Painter's Dress

A dress iMade from this fabulous jersey fabric 

that looks like splattered paint.

I used New Look 6149 for the bodice & I added

a black ruffle along the neckline for a little prettiness.

I like this raglan sleeve top pattern 

that was very easy to sew.

 The skirt is my own design with the

hem cut at an angle that after all these years

I still love.

Modern Leopard Dress

I bought this fabric a couple of years ago from Laura's Fashion Fabric in

White Rock, BC & I love it!  I was thinking of a simply boatneck

shift dress but chose this very easy McCall's 6199 pattern.

It is that type of pattern that you can make a dress

in the afternoon to wear to dinner.....which I did.

I made the long sleeve version & added some Tiffany

Blue bias type for the neckline & cuffs.

I like the contrast!

Daughter's Dress

This is the New Look Pattern 6125 that I cut in a size 12 for my 

middle daughter aka the Model, view A.

This pattern was easy but I did have a little trouble with the lining,

by the instructions: turn lining INSIDE by pulling each 

back through front at shoulder seams.  It seems

simple now!

My mistake was using this stiff fabric for the lining.

I also could of made the hip & waist a size 8 or 10 as this

pattern runs large.  I omitted the zipper because

of this & I serged another 2 inches off  hem in

 hot pink that she likes.

  She ended up wearing a belt &

it gave the dress some shape right away.

I will make this easy dress again but will use a similar

lining fabric next time.

The last Fashion Star pattern that I'll make?  I have been trying to sew this dress since last August!

I was waiting for this linen houndstooth fabric to go on sale & it finally did.....I got the 

last 3 meters!

Tunic top drama...

I had the last of this bold flower print fabric to make a tunic top to go with my Chanel....ish pants.

I thought of this design to combine 2 McCall's patterns 6112 & 6607 that I like to make one tunic top.

Both patterns were already cut to a size 12 so this is how I laid it out for cutting.  I then realized that I did not have enough of this flower fabric to finish the tunic.

So off to the fabric store me

& Alexandra went.  How cool is that a fabric store opened within walking distance of our home!

I came back empty handed though because that fabric had sold out.  So I just used my Chanel...ish pant material leftovers to make the back part of the tunic.

Both of these patterns were very easy to sew even with the two types of fabrics.  I just set my tension a little higher on my Singer.

The new back contrast with the un even/ hi low hems I am still liking.

I will also wear this tunic in the summer as a cover up for my bikini.

Exposed Minnie Dress

My "Minnie"dress was finished on time!

 I used New Look 6934 pattern but with an exposed zipper.

  

 I am most happy with the hot pink lining....some hand stitching but worth it.

 The front.....for some reason the skirt pattern does not have a lining.....next time I will make one myself.

 For the exposed zipper I used Gertie's  you tube tutorial.  Very easy to learn & follow along!  She is awesome too.
