A Comfy day dress

After all the holiday celebrations & dinners it is nice to chill out
& wear something comfortable....aka fat day dress, that iMade!

This dress was made using my New Look
pattern 6936.  Another easy dress & it was an
easy sew but it had been laying around since summer for
me to finish it up!

I did make a change by ommiting the elastic around
the bodice.....I did sew it in & then seam ripped it out.
as you can noticeably see.

It was way more comfortable this way &
I  serged the neckline & butterfly sleeves in hot pink.

I really like this fabric from
Laura's Fashion Fabric in White Rock, B.C.
& I think I am out of fabric (lol) so I will be there shopping soon.
Oh & "mom" necklace, the green amethyst ring &
white bootie slippers are all gifts from
my loving family.

Daughter's Dress

This is the New Look Pattern 6125 that I cut in a size 12 for my
middle daughter aka the Model, view A.

This pattern was easy but I did have a little trouble with the lining,
by the instructions: turn lining INSIDE by pulling each
back through front at shoulder seams.  It seems
simple now!
My mistake was using this stiff fabric for the lining.

I also could of made the hip & waist a size 8 or 10 as this
pattern runs large.  I omitted the zipper because
of this & I serged another 2 inches off  hem in
 hot pink that she likes.
She ended up wearing a belt &
it gave the dress some shape right away.

I will make this easy dress again but will use a similar
lining fabric next time.

easy Vogue

I have been sewing this summer just was not up to posting but now that summer is over I finally found the time to post this easy Vogue 8380 project.

I used this cotton batiste that I already had but it it was not enough so I had to cut the fabric a little different than the pattern.

I learned a few new sewing techniques from this project such as understitching the armhole facings....it made a neat stitch & finish.

This will be a around the house dress or nightgown though because even with my careful measuring the bodice was a little small.   I will be making this dress again for next summer because I really like the style!
