Off the shoulder baby!

I made this baby off the shoulder dress for my sweet granddaughter!

Leftover black jersey fabric, with a gather at the top,

basically a tube dress.

It was hard trying to get a photo of her in it, but

really its just about me loving her!

I made this easy summer dress in my fave bold fabric!

 On my vintage Singer Featherweight 221-1 sewing machine!

I had to add a scarf of course, just because!

Past Projects - Bleu Ruffle

This was one of my harder projects at the time, fitting cap sleeves & trying to sew on these beautiful ruffles!  I again used bias tape for the neck and armholes as well....I love bias tape!

Fashion Friday

One of my fave silk skirts, I made this of my own design and added black bias tape to the hem.
This skirt gets a lot of wear and I do hand wash.

A year later......

It has been 1 year since I made a lifestyle

change to better my health, rather than surgery.

I was lucky, I still had the choice.

So under my doctors care:

I joined a gym.

Working out 6 days a week the first 3 months

 cardio & classes only.

I did get a Personal Trainer into my 3rd month

of training once I started lifting weights.

I now work out 4 to 5 days a week.

I changed my meals as I did not eat red meat the 

first couple of months.  I ate chicken, cod, salmon, eggs, 

multigrain bread & salads.  

Water.....10 glasses a day.

I did still drink green wine with my dinner

lets not get too crazy here!

After I starting lifting weights I went back to eating

meats but mostly steak.

I am back to being fit....more so I feel now.  

I feel like I have more energy,  my skin feels rejuvenated

and I am stronger than when I was in my 20's!

It is also my blog anniversary too, 5 years!

  It's been awhile since I 

posted but I finally made something to blog about.

A little DIY from the "husbands" tee

So very easy, just cut off the sleeves, cut to make the ties,

A little serging to take in sides, clean up & done!

Skirt is made from a jersey blend, designed to fit me,

2 pattern pieces...front & back, sew in a  waist band 

& that's about it.

Bleu Sewing Room...Flashback Friday

I have pretty much sewed in every room of my house 

these past 5 years.....really 5 years of sewing & I

still have not made a pair of jeans?!

The fake neat photo for my blog.

Anyways, this is my  first sewing room.  A bedroom vacated

by my oldest daughter when she moved into our basement.

This is what it pretty much looked liked when

I was learning to sew....a disaster.

Mini-me back then was excited by my new hobby

& made me this for the wall of "our"

new sewing room.

A yet unblogged white ruffle camisole that I made 

back then.

My first drape dress that I made that my middle daughter

"The Model" wore.  Notice the fabric?

Many dresses were made by the 10 meters

I bought.....newbie fabric purchase.

Mini-me always there from the beginning,

just after we set up the Singer sewing machine

in the little blue sewing room.

70's Jumpsuit

I have been wanting a jumpsuit for awhile now

& I finally had some time to make one.

I used McCall's 6083 & it was an easy pattern to follow.

This silk jersey was a dream to sew up.

I was actually a little nervous to cut 

into this fabric....a bit more expensive

than my bottom of the bin bargain

fabrics I usually buy.

The only adjustment I had problems with

was the bodice cross over....it keeps gapping,

but an easy fix.

I made version E bodice with version B crop pants.

Blue Marine Dress.....inspiration.

The design for this dress has been in

my mind for a couple of years 

when I saw this dress from 

Blue Marine.

I made a summer version with short sleeves
using a New Look 6936 pattern.
I omitted the tie gathering at the
upper bodice.

The fabric is a jersey/knit that I found
at Laura's Fashion Fabric in White Rock BC.
& as this is a very easy pattern only
a couple of hours to finish.
This was another dress that was
tossed into a pile to be finished
from last year!

iDesigned a Dress

I am finally finding a 

little time to finish up

some sewing projects

that I started last summer! 

Seriously....this was cut out 

& pinned.

This dress iDesigned from
leftover cotton fabric &
thread.  I really hate to
waste thread that is
sometimes left on the
spool so this
dress has pink, turquoise,
white & black threads.
I also made back darts,
elastic gathering
with a simple shift
style front.

Fashion Friday Runway

I thought I would bring back "Fashion Friday Runway" 

back to the blog!

Today my runway is White Rock beach with Mini-me.

Dress iMade a few years back & still is one

of my faves for hot summer days.

Hot hot heat

OK.....so I know this dress borders on Mu Mu territory but when

you have been having the freaking heat wave we have been 

having.....well this is about the best dress EVER!

I really like the racer back style that fits perfectly with my
one & only racer back bra.....

& this 100% cotton like silk fabric is the coolest.

After these past 4 years of sewing I am still liking this un even hem &

 oh my suede Fergalicious wedges too.

This McCall's 6954 pattern was on the bias & took a lot of time to cut out

but well worth it.....as I was the only one cool at the office today!

Skirtress

I designed this beach dress

 hacked from a skirt pattern, 

so I am calling it a Skirtress.

I used a New Look 6470 skirt pattern. 

and the very last of this hot pink fabric!

the traveling skirt

Hello again Blog Friends!

Well I just returned from traveling & one of my fave

skirts went missing from London to Paris (my luggage

had a sticker on it saying it was a random check).

So what's a girl to do?......well sew up another one

of course, with the exact same fabric!

I used my New Look 6571 pattern & added in-seam pockets.

Oh & if you see my skirt walking around in Paris
this is the label inside ;)

Denim Skirt

Today's skirt is made from denim.

Another "A" line skirt with a zipper flower that I made to

the top of the skirt.

The pink serge hem is just for fun

because I like pink!
