Black drape dress

I needed another black dress to wear to the
art theater the other night, so I sewed this

easy McCall's 6069 pattern.
I used a heavy ponte de roma knit
that feels luxurious to wear.

I did a few mods by having the back
drape more than the front,
as I had made this dress a few years back
& was forever pulling up the front
bodice gape.
I also added about 2 inches to the
sleeves.

An easy dress to sew but took me about 4 hours rather
than the 1 hour the pattern claims.
I like this style with the inseam pockets
but I always belt it as
it looks too frumpy without it!

Vogue 1250 DKNY Metropolitan Dress

This is a seriously easy dress to make,
a 3 piece pattern!
I have made it before,
& that is what it should look like!

So how could I mess it up you ask?
Well.....by barely having enough of
this fabric I like to call metropolitan
as I have made 2 dresses
& a top with this cool fabric.

I was a teeny short on one end
that happened to be the sleeves
& the waist
& you can tell.

A little cardigan takes care of my mistake though
as I really like this jersey fabric.

Daughter's Dress

This is the New Look Pattern 6125 that I cut in a size 12 for my
middle daughter aka the Model, view A.

This pattern was easy but I did have a little trouble with the lining,
by the instructions: turn lining INSIDE by pulling each
back through front at shoulder seams.  It seems
simple now!
My mistake was using this stiff fabric for the lining.

I also could of made the hip & waist a size 8 or 10 as this
pattern runs large.  I omitted the zipper because
of this & I serged another 2 inches off  hem in
 hot pink that she likes.
She ended up wearing a belt &
it gave the dress some shape right away.

I will make this easy dress again but will use a similar
lining fabric next time.

Sew you later!
