A summer dress

I am almost done my make over for my dressing/sewing room so I thought I better post this project I finished a couple of months ago!

This fabric was the first fabric I bought to practice sewing on a few years back & I also made my daughters first dress too.  For this simple summer dress I made it a halter style bodice with a circle skirt & tried the hi low hem with white bias tape.

ice baby ice.......

So I have been organizing my sewing room & going through my pile of fabric that is just too crazy....even for me!

I bought this taffeta poly fabric last spring for who knows what reason except that I loved the colour & the sparkles.  I started out making a circle dress with a fitted bodice but this fabric is hard to sew with & I had to remove the sparkles at every seam.  The bodice looked funny so I scrapped that project but finished the skirt
using my own circle pattern.  No complicated math here.....its basically a half circle using half my waist measurements & cut on the fold.  I also made a quick cotton straight skirt for the lining.

As it is freezing cold here & to tone down the ice blue sparkles I am wearing a man blazer (as my husband calls it) with a navy blue top.  I also used black bias tape for the hem & by now have no problems hemming the circle like I used to!

Where would one wear all this sparkle you ask?  Why to the theater of course!

Lace Pants

1st project of 2012!  I love lace so when I saw this printed graphic lace I knew I had to make something modern but with a 70's style.

I initially chose a Vogue pattern but because I had under 2 meters of fabric the pattern would not fit.
I then remembered the New Look 6354 pattern that I had sewn a year ago.  The pattern just barley fit.

Similar to the Vogue pattern...... I like this pattern on me as it has a wide waistband that
sits on the hips.

It was an easy project to complete & I also made the "C" shorts version for the lining but left out the waistband.

My youngest has to get in the pic........

Happy New Year.....

My soul is still in the Maya Riviera so I did not finish my sewing projects......during this past year I changed my blog name........I should have thought that out more as I did not know I would lose most of my followers & all my photos.........I am still in the process of adding them back!  I am still very much a novice at sewing but I am still enthusiastic about learning so its all good............I was  featured on Burdastyle......that was a honor for me!

One of the best things about this blog is you.......readers....who leave comments......emails & share with me little parts of your life.......so I thought I would share with you my 3 fave projects from 2011.......my feather trim Las Vegas Little Black Dress......
