Extreme sewing.....

The "husband" ATVing on the frozen lake.

for extreme sports!  We went away this past long
weekend to take a break & look for a little
cabin in the mountainside to buy.  I needed
some warm clothes so I sewed up
a storm a few days before we left, using
the last of my black polar fleece.
I made this balaclava using the "husbands" one as
a pattern.  It kept me warm being that is was
-20......freezing cold but so beautiful in the clear
mountain air.

This would be our escape from the rain in the city
in the winter, & the summers are hot & dry....perfect as
we are right beside a lake for boating & swimming.

I also made some lounge pants for myself
but mini-me claimed them
right way & she which she wore the whole time
we were there.  I used this very easy
New Look 6354 pattern.

It is really quite beautiful place to be.

Chanel......ish pants

I normally do not sew pants as I hardly wear them,

but the Chanel S/S 2013 collection that was shown last October changed my mind when I saw these come down the runway.

It was the sandals that caught my eye but the pants were interesting enough for me to try & make.

I used a poly cotton nylon fabric that resembled the Chanel perforated pants.  I first used this McCalls' 6404 legging pattern but it was too form fitting even though I cut a size bigger.

My only other pant pattern is this one that I made pants for my middle daughter a couple of years ago.
I omitted the drawstring & it worked much better for me!

Looking at this photo, I do need to work on my hems & next time will hand sew.  Maybe even try a real pant pattern with a zipper :)

Lace Pants

1st project of 2012!  I love lace so when I saw this printed graphic lace I knew I had to make something modern but with a 70's style.

I initially chose a Vogue pattern but because I had under 2 meters of fabric the pattern would not fit.
I then remembered the New Look 6354 pattern that I had sewn a year ago.  The pattern just barley fit.

Similar to the Vogue pattern...... I like this pattern on me as it has a wide waistband that
sits on the hips.

It was an easy project to complete & I also made the "C" shorts version for the lining but left out the waistband.

My youngest has to get in the pic........
