A year later......

It has been 1 year since I made a lifestyle
change to better my health, rather than surgery.
I was lucky, I still had the choice.
So under my doctors care:

I joined a gym.

Working out 6 days a week the first 3 months
 cardio & classes only.
I did get a Personal Trainer into my 3rd month
of training once I started lifting weights.
I now work out 4 to 5 days a week.

I changed my meals as I did not eat red meat the
first couple of months.  I ate chicken, cod, salmon, eggs,
multigrain bread & salads.
Water.....10 glasses a day.
I did still drink green wine with my dinner
lets not get too crazy here!
After I starting lifting weights I went back to eating
meats but mostly steak.

I am back to being fit....more so I feel now.
I feel like I have more energy,  my skin feels rejuvenated
and I am stronger than when I was in my 20's!

Happy Canada Day!

Hello sewing friends!
Happy Canada Day!
It is also my blog anniversary too, 5 years!
  It's been awhile since I
posted but I finally made something to blog about.

A little DIY from the "husbands" tee

So very easy, just cut off the sleeves, cut to make the ties,

A little serging to take in sides, clean up & done!
Skirt is made from a jersey blend, designed to fit me,
2 pattern pieces...front & back, sew in a  waist band
& that's about it.

I am on instagram daily @deniseangela & if you have an account
I would love to follow your sewing blogs there as well too.

Painter's Dress

A dress iMade from this fabulous jersey fabric
that looks like splattered paint.

I used New Look 6149 for the bodice & I added
a black ruffle along the neckline for a little prettiness.
I like this raglan sleeve top pattern
that was very easy to sew.

The skirt is my own design with the
hem cut at an angle that after all these years
I still love.

a simple McCall's pattern
a few years ago.

Just finishing up my New Years Eve dress......so I am way ahead for this year!

Bleu Sewing Room...Flashback Friday

I have pretty much sewed in every room of my house
these past 5 years.....really 5 years of sewing & I
still have not made a pair of jeans?!
The fake neat photo for my blog.

Anyways, this is my  first sewing room.  A bedroom vacated
by my oldest daughter when she moved into our basement.
This is what it pretty much looked liked when
I was learning to sew....a disaster.

Mini-me back then was excited by my new hobby
& made me this for the wall of "our"
new sewing room.
A yet unblogged white ruffle camisole that I made
back then.

My first drape dress that I made that my middle daughter
"The Model" wore.  Notice the fabric?
Many dresses were made by the 10 meters
I bought.....newbie fabric purchase.

Mini-me always there from the beginning,
just after we set up the Singer sewing machine
in the little blue sewing room.

Ballet dress

A dress iMade for my ballet classes using one of
my ballet tops for the pattern of the
bodice out of ponte de roma knit.
I used swimsuit material for
the skirt....a design of my own
to which I sewed together at the waist.

New Year & new ballet slippers.

New Year, new trainers, new tank top

I have been a gym junkie a little
over a month now working out
6 days a week.
I never thought I would.....I hated the gym,
preferring ballet, swimming & sports
to keep me in shape, but a Fibroid has afflicted me
this past year.  Making me look about 5 months
pregnant with all the gory issues that most women
my age get.  My doc said I could just wait it
out (yeah I love not fitting any of my clothes)
have surgery or try to get rid of it naturally.

Naturally has worked the last 6 weeks!
I have dropped 10 pounds & now
fit into my previous fat day clothes.
I cut all the junk food from my diet,
kept the good carbs, more protein,
& no red meat.  I get at least 7 hours
sleep a night & I know that is because
of my 2 hour workouts at the gym.

Instead of a new wardrobe, I need new gym clothes & they are expensive.
I have Lululemon bottoms from my ballet workouts
so I just needed more tanks & tops.
This is the first one I made from swimsuit material
using McCall's pattern 6751.  Very easy to sew & holds up
to a vigorous workout on the elliptical so I
will be making more!
