Mother daughter sparkle...

I finally finished sewing the Simplicity 3514 Hannah Montana pattern that my youngest daughter chose a few years ago while she was a child.

Now that she is a teenager I made view D but I made it into a dress by adding 4 inches to the middle section.  The sleeves were difficult & the pattern instructions made no sense to me.  So I made them without the lining & then it came together easy.  I think maybe I cut out the sleeves wrong.  Her favorite part of this dress is the sleeves!

I like how the back drapes with this sequin fabric.

On the front bodice I had to add another panel because I cut out a size 12 according to her measurements & it was way too big.

With the left overs of this expensive fabric I made myself a bias cut skirt from my own pattern.  Sadly I did not finish her dress for New Years but recently we have both been invited to a local Fashion Show so we get to wear our outfits then.

Last projects of 2012

With only a few days left I am sewing a couple of projects......this McCall's 5050 top which I am making into a dress........

Project #2 is this girls sparkly tunic top from Hannah Montana Simplicity 3514 pattern.

My daughter picked out this pattern a few years ago when I first started sewing clothes & I thought I better sew it before its too late!  I have been having  issues with the freaking sleeves so hopefully I will get it done for her to wear on New Year's Eve.

I would like to thank all my blog friends & followers for your comments & emails this past year as I really appreciate your support!  It has been kinda of slow sewing this past year for me with major house renovations, my illness, Confirmation, another daughter graduating & yet another entering high school.....meanwhile I am going back to college to attain yet another degree so hopefully I will have more time in 2013 to sew more projects.  Life is great right now!

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year & peace...love & happiness.

Cape Dress

I had 2 meters of this knit sweater fabric & thought to make a cape dress of my own design.

Very easy to make....measure for neckline & sew the 2 sides up at around 18 inches.  I used my serger for the hem.

I made the neck so it would be a little off the shoulder & added grosgrain ribbon for a tie around the waist with a front bow.   This is my comfy at home dress but I have worn it with black tights & wedges for date night which I will post on my Photo Diary Blog when I get some pics!

1 pattern...3 dresses

I have been going through my fabric collection & trying to use some of it up before I buy more.  I have had this pink plaid fabric for a couple of years now & have made 4 dresses with it already!  I still have enough leftover for a maxi skirt.

I used this easy McCall's pattern 6199.  I altered the pattern for the pink plaid dress by taking in the sides about 2 inches so there was no need for a belt.

The long sleeve version with black lace added to neckline & sleeves.

My bold print flower dress from the summer.  If you want a real easy dress to make this is the pattern!

Exposed Minnie Dress

My "Minnie"dress was finished on time!

I used New Look 6934 pattern but with an exposed zipper.

I am most happy with the hot pink lining....some hand stitching but worth it.

The front.....for some reason the skirt pattern does not have a lining.....next time I will make one myself.

For the exposed zipper I used Gertie's  you tube tutorial.  Very easy to learn & follow along!  She is awesome too.

 love how the inside looks
