belle peasant dress....

I have been reading some old books & watching old movies lately & feeling whimsical so I made this dress.

I used McCall's 5050 pattern view E but made it a dress by adding 4 inches.  A little too short so I added the lace hem.

The raglan bell sleeves in this pattern is what caught my eye in the pattern $1.99 markdown bin.

This was supposed to be my toile using this inexpensive unknown fibers fabric, as I thought the pattern was complicated, but it was way easy!

So now I can make this dress in some Silk fabric I have been coveting at the fabric store.

Mother daughter sparkle...

I finally finished sewing the Simplicity 3514 Hannah Montana pattern that my youngest daughter chose a few years ago while she was a child.

Now that she is a teenager I made view D but I made it into a dress by adding 4 inches to the middle section.  The sleeves were difficult & the pattern instructions made no sense to me.  So I made them without the lining & then it came together easy.  I think maybe I cut out the sleeves wrong.  Her favorite part of this dress is the sleeves!

I like how the back drapes with this sequin fabric.

On the front bodice I had to add another panel because I cut out a size 12 according to her measurements & it was way too big.

With the left overs of this expensive fabric I made myself a bias cut skirt from my own pattern.  Sadly I did not finish her dress for New Years but recently we have both been invited to a local Fashion Show so we get to wear our outfits then.
